Why write a letter of disassociation?
by tfsm inmy question may seem vague but if one decides to leave "the organization", why write a formal letter?
why not just leave and not have any further contact with the witnesses?
is there some legitimate legal reason for this or do people do this because the witness thinking has overtaken their logic?

If I knew 15 years ago what I know now, I would have written a DA letter in a heartbeat. Now it's become academic.

Are you a Generalist or a Specialist
by joelbear ini am definitely a generalist, i have a bit of interest in 1000 things.
this is one of the reasons i have always been so unhappy, because i have attempted to force myself to be a specialist.
it just doesn't work.

I'm a specialist that's tried everything else.

Sin pictures in What Does The Bible Really Teach
by Check_Your_Premises inone of my favorite things to do with any wt publication, is to look for the "sin" pictures.
they are always pretty funny, cartoony, and classic propaganda.
the knowledge book had some but it seemed to be toned down from the standard study book that preceded it (i can't remember the name).

I remember one that had two guys hugging. I kept wondering what sin it represented. Someone pointed out that it was in a gay bar. Then I started wondering how he knew.

Well, someone had screwed up in assigning the territory. One guy was an apostate. Aside from that, not really.

Do you hide you JW family's practice of shunning from non-JW family?
by kwintestal ini thought of this question as i've been talking to different family members about the situation with my parents and grandmother.
i wondered if they'd get upset by me telling other non-jw family members what was going on.
i recently told a family member in coventry who i'm sure will end up telling my grandmother's sisters.

I look like a few people, unrelated to me, who aren't celebrities. I suppose it is up to me to become a celebrity so they can say they look like one. :D
